Hard case or Gig Bag: Custom Eric Clapton Martin hardcase
Supplied with original Certificate of Authenticy (COA)

Okay, well here is something you just don’t see. Commissioned in partnership with Eric Clapton and the C.F. Martin Guitar Custom Shop in aid of The Crossroads Foundation, the stunning 000-28EC Crossroads Madagascar has been limited to production on 150 pieces (plus 5 left-handed) worldwide.

Constructed from the finest tone woods including Madagascar Rosewood from Martin’s special reserve, these guitars are based on the legendary 14 fret 000 body style and 24” scale length neck preferred by Eric Clapton himself. They are uniquely appointed with “Crossroads” pearl headstock inlay and bear the personal, hand-written signatures of Eric Clapton and Chris Martin on both the Certificate of Authenticity and sound hole label. The addition of a custom shop case and leather strap complete this collectors package.

“It’s been my experience that the proper guitars, like those in this Collection, are just made for playing – the motive behind the making of the guitar is 100% right,” said Eric Clapton. “They are beautiful guitars; from the inlays to the rosewood they are unique from one another. One would be inclined to take care of and be in awe of them.”

Not only is the construction of and history behind the Eric Clapton Crossroads Collection of guitars notable, but a significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of each of the guitars in the collection will be donated to benefit Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Centre. The Crossroads Centre, Antigua was created to provide treatment and education to chemically dependent persons. Treatment is provided through residential care, family and aftercare programs. The pathway to recovery is founded on the movement toward a change in lifestyle.
MODS: A strap button has been placed on the heel to allow standing up performances and the guitar has been fitted with a passive K&K mini pickup which to be fair sounds great and you’d never know it was there.

Condition: 7/10
Honestly, this guitar was owned by a player not a collector. It has been played, and adjusted to make it a great gigging guitar. The guitar has a couple of marks on the front of the body towards the bottom and a couple of small chips in the binding around the bottom right of the guitar. A small hairline crack in the lower bout on the side was repaired by a master luthier and is a fully invisible repair. Some slight lacquer clouding on the back of the body and a few scratch marks but nothing major. The whole guitar in general is covered in very minor dents and minor scratches only really visible up close.

Neck: 8/10
Great neck, some clouding of the lacquer on the back and some lacquer marks around the fingerboard. Frets are spotless and are highly polished. As mentioned before this guitar is really a players guitar, not a collectors item, so does show signs of use.

Hardware: 9/10
No rust on any of the open gear tuners. Bridge pins still a lovely bright white and same for the saddle.

Electrics: 9/10
passive K&K mini pickup fitted.

This guitar has been lovingly set up by Jon, one of the UK’s most highly regarded and experienced guitar techs.
That doesn’t mean this guitar is the best playing guitar ever, it just means that he has taken the time to set it up. Adjust the action, intonation etc so that it plays as well as can be expected and stays in tune as good as any guitar of this type does.
We all have differing styles and demands from our instruments. Some of us like fast n low actions for fretboard burning licks, others prefer a high n mightly action for show stopping windmills and downtuned heavy riffing and everything in between. No one set up suits all!
This specific guitar has been set up with a medium action for buzz free strumming.
