Humidity is a real killer of guitars, cheap AND expensive ones alike. There are dozens of articles relating to the damage from too much or too little humidity. Thankfully in this country, we fair better than places like Florida (excess humidity quite often) and places like Egypt (regular lack of humidity, not helped by moisture sucking air-conditioning). However, it’s worth just thinking about.
Generally speaking in the UK we suffer mostly from EXCESS humidity (rain !!) and that can make your guitar body SWELL resulting in a out of spec neck angle giving you a HIGH ACTION (distance from the strings to the top of the frets) amking your guitar sound dead and much harder to play.

This system is about as easy as it gets. Nothing beats careful monitoring, but without going to the expense of a complete humidity control system in your music room / lounge then this offers a very handy way of keeping your guitar sweet. Read on…
